Homemade Pan Pizza

What comes to your mind when I say “Pizza”…..you got blank…with the juicy colourful sights of the round cheesy, mind blowing eat therapy?

Yeah! I can understand….it makes your mouth water for sure!

But the good taste comes with a great guilt…the all-purpose flour (Maida) used in it makes your digestive system go crazy! But I have a solution for that….what if we can make the pizza at home…using ingredients of your choice yet not compromising the taste?

Great na !! So let’s begin with the recipe….


(good to make 3-4 medium sized pizzas)

For the Base-

Wheat flour(Atta)- 1 cup

All-Purpose Flour(Maida)- 1 cup

Baking powder- 1 Tbsp (1 Table Spoon)

Baking Soda- 1 Tsp (1 Tea Spoon)

Salt- 1/2 Tbsp (1 Table Spoon)

Oil- 2 Tbsp (2 Table Spoon)


For the Toppings-

Note: Toppings surely are your choice and depend upon the availability as well so you are free to use whatever available, only the sauces and cheese give the major flavour)

Capsicum( Shimla Mirch)-1, chopped into long slices

Carrot( Gajar)- 1, chopped into long slices

Onion( Pyaz)- 1, chopped into long slices

Tomato( Tamatar)- 1, finely chopped

Green Chilli( Hari Mirch)- 4, finely chopped

Paneer- ½ bowl, grated

Cheese- 1 bowl, grated (you can even use cheese slices after breaking them into small pieces)

Tomato Ketchup- 4 spoons

Chilli sauce- 4 spoons

Pepper Powder- 1 spoon

Oregano Herbs- 1 spoon

Chat Masala- 1 spoon

Salt- 1 spoon


For the Base-

Take a large bowl and add Atta and Maida to it, take a small bowl and mix Oil, Baking Powder and Baking soda in it. Add salt to the bowl of flours and mix nicely, now add the Oil mix into it and mix everything nicely for 2 min, then slowly add little water and start kneading by adding water in parts, the dough has to be soft and flowy (not tight at all). Now, keep the dough aside, covered with a lid or muslin cloth for about 20-30 min.

After 20-30min, take some loose flour and spread on your palm and fingers, now devide the dough into number of pizzas you want to make. Take one of the portions, put the loose flour and give it a round pizza base like shape, using only your fingures and use no rolling pin(Belan).

Once the pizza base takes its shape, keep a sauté pan(or a kadhai) over low flame, put the base on it, you will see it rise in within 1-2min, keep the flame at low all the time. Cook both the sides for 2 min each and repeat the same for all the dough portions.

For the Toppings-

Take a small bowl and add Tomato Ketchup, chilli sauce, 1/2 tsp salt and mix all of them(You can skip this if you have any ready-made pizza sauce).

Take a frying pan and add ½ spoon of oil in it, add all the chopped vegetables in it and half cook them by covering the lid, adding a little amount of water.

Spread the sauce mix over one of the base uniformly, then put a thin layer of cheese, over the layer of cheese put the layer of vegetables available with you, keep alternating with cheese and paneer toppings.

When the topping is done, sprinkle pink of salt, chat masala, oregano, pepper powder over the top!

You can give different variations with the toppings available like: Onion-Tomato, Onion-Paneer, Mix Vegetable(Onion, Tomato, Capsicum, paneer, carrot), etc.

Now take a sauté pan or Kadhai, put the pizza carefully in it and remember to keep the flame at low all the time. Cover the pan for 5 min. After 5 min, open and check if the cheese has melted, if it has then remove the pizza and put another one in it for baking.

The pizzas are ready to be served after cutting! 🙂
