Maida gives taste to most of the dishes that we eat but with that it also upsets the stomach….so here is a spongy Suji (Semolina) Cake recipe that is even tastier, easy to bake without oven and is also quick to make!

(For a small cake)

Suji(Semolina)- 1 cup

Custard powder- 4 spoons

Cherries(if available)- 1 spoon full

Vanilla essence(if available)- 1 tbsp

Sugar- ½ cup, powdered

Baking Powder- 1 tsp

Baking Soda- ½ tsp

Curd- 1 cup

Ghee/Oil- 4 spoons

Water if needed

Take a large bowl and put curd, vanilla essence, baking powder, cherries, sugar, 3 spoons ghee/oil, custard powder and mix all of these nicely.

Take a baking dish(or a small flat base container) for baking, grease it uniformly with 1 spoon of ghee/oil.

Now add, suji to the mixture followed by baking soda. Give your batter a good mix, the texture should be neither too thick nor too thin, if needed add few spoons of water.

Add the batter to the baking dish and put it for baking:

  1. If you are using your cooker or kadhai make sure you put sand or salt on the base and then put your baking dish, cover the lid for 20-30 min
  2. If you are using normal OTG or Oven, bake it in the usual way for 7-10 min

After the above said time, whichever case is applicable, put a knife into the cake and see if it comes out clean…..if yes…your cake is ready to be served!!
